Marina di Campo in the past was a large sandy beach with a small harbour which was used mainly by small boats which transported locally quarried blocks of granite and barrels of wine to the continent to be sold.
Today it has become the main village in the municipality of “Campo nell’Elba” which includes the other hillside villages of San Piero, Sant’Ilario and the well known beaches of Cavoli, Seccheto and Fetovaia .
The golden sandy beach, one of the longest on the island of Elba and its crystal clear shallow shore makes it very popular with our guests.
Marina di Campo is the ideal location for families with young or teenage children as the sea is easily accessible and the bustling village life offers entertainment for all.
Transport is not required to reach either the village or the beach and nearby popular beaches are easily accessible with public transport.
A birds eye view of the bay shows the beautiful sandy beach completely surrounded by thick pine copses which afford welcome shade during sunny summer afternoons.
Behind the beach and pine trees lies the residential area of Marina di Campo. Most of the hotels and apartments are to be found in this area. The beach and residential area are very close and well connected to the village centre by a pedestrian and cycle path which runs down the seafront.
The village centre is on the far side of the bay and offers many typical Mediterranean restaurants, numerous small shops selling local produce such as wine, honey and the local speciality of “Schiaccia Briaca”, elegant boutiques, small artisan shops, bars and other important amenities.
In the evening the centre is pedestrianized and people come from the surrounding villages for an evening “passeggiata” to walk round the shops, have a delicious gelato or listen to live music in the local bars.
